What would you give to live on an island where you can get everything you need to live in prosperity? To live a structured and loving life together with your family and friends? For the inhabitants of Noiris, this is not a question, but a privilege they experience every day! No matter the dark price they have to pay.

Welcome to our larp Trials of Torment. A larp about the commune living on the island of Noiris. The inhabitants live their life by strict rules and age-old traditions. Their daily activities and celebrations are dedicated to their goddess Noirith, who in return grants the inhabitants of Noiris protection, healing, food and prosperity.

But very few outside Noiris know that the goddess feeds herself on misery, pain and fear. Through the traditions and celebrations on Noiris, the islanders give the goddess Noirith what she asks for. The sacrifices they have to make are well rewarded. Everyone on Noiris lives in greater prosperity than many others in the world.

Although all their wishes are granted, the islanders have been missing something important for more than twenty years now; newly born children. The last children have grown up now, so time is ticking. Even though they have tried everything and begged the goddess Noirith for new children, nothing seems to change. She refused to grant this wish.

The inhabitants are now desperately awaiting their most important festival: the Festival of First Seeds. During this festival the goddess grants a wish if she is sufficiently pleased. The inhabitants want to prove to Noirith that they are worthy of seeing their greatest wish come true. That is why, for the first time in their entire existence, they have invited foreigners, who can claim just as much of the wish as they do. They are convinced that they are going to prove themselves to Noirith like never before!
