The Families of the island Noiris
54 families currently live on the island, all with their own Head of the family. Aside from this, almost every family has their own heir apparent, who holds the second highest authority within the walls of their home. Every family is a close knit group that is held accountable as a unit.
Costumes
We have created a Pinterest board, with costume inspiration for the players who will be playing a character from the island of Noiris. Noiris has a simple community, where everyone lives in prosperity. All islanders can afford themselves sufficient and good clothing. Nevertheless, the community likes simple clothing, because no one wants to stand out too much. The colours are therefore often somewhat more subdued. Furthermore, the families are farming families, who are used to working. The clothing is often adapted to their way of living.
We do not have a specific historical period in mind, but as you can see on Pinterest, we certainly do not want a modern look. Try to avoid obvious synthetic fabrics. It doesn't fit in the setting and and it is for your own safety. We will probably have an open campfire at the location, so keep that in mind for your costume ideas.
The Priestesses of the island Noiris
The most influential inhabitants of Noiris are the priestesses. They are the confidantes on the island, the guides and the example of how you should behave. If you want to know how you can best worship Noirith, the priestesses can advise you. The inhabitants are encouraged by the priestesses to make the sacrifices as intense as possible. If necessary the priestesses will offer themselves to pay for the islanders' missteps. Thanks to them the balance is maintained between Noirith and the islanders.
Noirith tolerates only women in the priestesshood and she only speaks directly to them. This wish is not understood by everyone, but the islanders have to respect it. This means that the priestesses have an important role in communicating Noirith’s wishes and teachings to the people.
Costumes
The priestesses are given the freedom to create their own interpretation of a costume that matches the costume requirements of the islanders and what the goddess Noirith stands for. Players who will be playing a priestess will receive assistance from the organizers if requested.
Varr Annor (invited foreign groups)
These are player characters who have already played at other events. They will play the two foreign groups invited to the Trials of Torment.
The first group is played by the organizers of this larp. They are the friends of the foreign healer Yllayra, who is currently staying on Noiris to help. They come with three Omani elves and their friend Rauron. The reason they come to the Festival of First Seeds is because they have heard that through this festival they may be offered the opportunity to find some tribe members who have been lost. They have no idea what to do to make this wish come true, but they don't want to miss this opportunity.
The second group is played by a group of players led by Juna. At the island Wokai they heard about the possibility to win a wish at Noiris. Surprisingly enough, they were allowed to go instead of the invited Wokai islanders. They hope to win the wish, to save Juna from her illness. They are going to pose as the invited group from Wokai Island. They will do anything not to be exposed. The crew know the Omani group very well, but they will not show this during the festival.
